Officials attend a weeklong education workshop to discuss a new project
Lao education officials and overseas development partners are joining forces to strengthen school communities in a bid to improve the quality of education and lifelong learning.They are collaborating in the “Strengthening School Community Partnership for Quality Education and Lifelong Learning” Project by developing institutional capacity-building tools for village education development committees.
The Project will run for 21 months and involve inter-Centre collaborative action research through the Regional Centre for educational Innovation and Technology (SEAMEO INNOTECH) and SEAMEO Regional Centre for Community Education Development (SEAMEO CED).
SEAMEO CED and development partner, including SEAMEO INNOTECH Philippine, the Australian RMIT University and DVV international, are currently holding a workshop in Vientiane from February 10-14 and AVI.
Representative of line sectors along with education officials from five provinces are attending the workshop to discuss the project.
The workshop is highlighting the project objectives, which are to develop tools and resources designed to strengthen village education development committees as an important school community partnership structure that supports educational innovation and the improvement of quality education and lifelong learning in Laos, in collaboration with SEAMEO CED.
The component of the 21- months project relate to building the institutional capacity of village education development committees as a mechanism for promoting and improving school community partnerships.
Project components include participatory action research to develop capacity building tools and knowledge products, and prototyping and pilot testing of capacity building tools.
The project will monitor and evaluate the use of capacity building tools, and scale – up and sustainability planning for the tool’s development with the Ministry of Education and Sport and SEAMEO CED.
The project aims to develop a set of tools and resource that can be used by the Ministry and SEAMEO CED to build the capacity of village education development committees as an important structure for promoting and supporting school – community partnership that espouse educational innovation and improvement of quality and lifelong learning.
In addition, village education development committees will help develop a set of institutional capacity building tools designed to help them perform their roles and responsibility as a condole for improving the quality of learning in school, as well as addressing the learning needs of other community members, including out – of school children, youth, and adult learners.
